Cardiac Sonographer II (RDCS/RCS) | Echocardiographer | Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist | Cardiac Diagnostic Sonographer

Role Summary

Johns Hopkins Intrastaff is seeking an experienced Cardiac Sonographer II to support the Echocardiography team at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. This position is responsible for performing a comprehensive range of advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures, including transthoracic and stress echocardiograms, while ensuring high-quality diagnostic imaging and exceptional patient care. The selected candidate will also support educational initiatives, research studies, and continuous quality improvement efforts within the department.

Schedule:

  • Full-Time
  • Day Shift
  • 8:00/8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Weekend Work Required

Responsibilities

 
  • Perform routine and complex cardiac ultrasound examinations, including Transthoracic Echocardiograms (TTE), Exercise Stress Echo, and Pharmacologic Stress Echo studies.
  • Acquire high-quality diagnostic images and measurements in accordance with departmental and accreditation standards.
  • Perform vascular ultrasound studies when needed.
  • Support advanced procedures, including echo-guided interventions and specialized cardiac imaging protocols.
  • Analyze examinations and communicate preliminary findings to interpreting physicians.
  • Educate and provide clinical instruction to cardiac sonography students, cardiology fellows, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in clinical research protocols and imaging studies as assigned.
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment and adhere to departmental quality assurance standards.
  • Accurately document patient histories, imaging findings, and exam-related information within electronic medical records.
  • Assist with workflow coordination, patient scheduling, and departmental operations as needed.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through ARDMS OR
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
  • Minimum 3 years of cardiac sonography experience in a hospital setting
  • Experience performing diagnostic echocardiography examinations independently

  • Bachelor's Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field
  • Experience performing vascular ultrasound procedures
  • Experience supporting cardiac research studies and clinical trials
  • Previous experience serving as a lead or charge sonographer
  • Experience training sonography students or medical fellows
  • Experience with echo-guided procedures and advanced cardiac imaging studies
  • Knowledge of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy imaging protocols
  • Prior experience within an academic medical center environment
