Position: Hospitality Associate - Barista

 

Location: Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center

Schedule: Monday- Friday 6:00am- 2:00pm 

 

Pay Rate: $19.00 Per Hour. 

Responsibilities

Position Overview:

The Hospitality Associate - Barista is responsible for preparing and serving specialty coffee and espresso beverages while delivering exceptional customer service. This role also supports food preparation, sanitation, inventory management, cash handling, and daily café operations. The ideal candidate is skilled in operating espresso equipment, works independently, and maintains high standards for quality, safety, and efficiency.
 
  • Prepare specialty coffee, espresso-based beverages, and other menu items to brand standards
  • Provide outstanding customer service and create a welcoming experience for all customers
  • Take customer orders, answer questions, and process cash and credit transactions
  • Assist with food preparation, stocking, and inventory management
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety standards throughout the café
  • Complete temperature logs, safety checks, and other required documentation
  • Support café marketing initiatives and promote products to drive sales
  • Train or guide team members as needed and ensure quality standards are met
  • Operate café equipment safely and efficiently
  • Restock supplies and maintain appropriate inventory levels
  • Perform routine cleaning duties, including equipment, workstations, and service areas

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Barista certification for specialty beverage preparation must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • Minimum of three months of customer service experience required; one to two years of retail, café, or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Cash handling and basic math skills preferred.
  • Experience operating a cash register and credit card processing system preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide clear information regarding food preparation, safety procedures, and cash handling practices.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, courtesy, and tact when interacting with patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment when resolving customer concerns and providing service recovery when appropriate.
