Position Overview: 

Performs a variety of radiological procedures, including computed tomography (CT) and specialized tomographic examinations, while ensuring the accuracy and quality of imaging through the implementation of appropriate quality control measures. 

 

  • Location: Suburban Hospital  
  • Schedule: Friday 11:00 PM – 11:30 AM; Saturday 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM; and Sunday 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge of CT techniques, procedures, equipment operation, anatomy, and departmental policies necessary for job performance.
  • Operates CT equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images by selecting appropriate protocols and technical factors based on patient age, physical condition, and clinical presentation. 
  • Provides CT imaging coverage for emergency room and inpatient populations. 
  • Positions geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and infant patients appropriately for assigned procedures and reviews image quality to ensure diagnostic accuracy, performing additional scans as necessary. 
  • Verifies patient identifiers, procedure orders, and other pertinent information; obtains required documentation, including patient questionnaires and informed consent when applicable. 
  • Performs venipuncture and injection of contrast material as required. 
  • Completes all required documentation, post-processing, image archiving, and exam-related paperwork accurately and timely. 
  • Assists patients and answers questions regarding department procedures. 
  • Participates in departmental quality-improvement processes and performs assigned quality-control measures. 
  • Follows radiation protection procedures for oneself and patients. 
  • Maintains CT equipment according to established guidelines and maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work area.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of High school or GED equivalent required.
  • Work requires completion of an AMA approved program for Radiologic Technology or equivalent which is required in a two year college or technical school program. 
  • ARRT certified with current registration required.
  • BLS CPR certification required.  
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a CT Technologist is required.
  • Experience performing CT imaging in emergency room and inpatient settings preferred.
