Bayview Medical Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation team

 

Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 10:45 am - 3:00 pm

Pay Rate:$45–$55 per hour (based on experience)

 

Responsibilities

The Respiratory Therapist will observe, assess, monitor, and educate patients participating in outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation. The role focuses on patient safety, encouragement, and clinical support while working collaboratively with another Respiratory Therapist who will handle documentation in the clinical system.
 
  • Observe and assess patients during pulmonary rehabilitation sessions
  • Monitor and obtain vital signs as appropriate
  • Assist patients throughout therapy activities to ensure safety and tolerance
  • Provide patient education related to pulmonary disease management and rehabilitation goals
  • Respond appropriately to patient needs or changes in condition
  • Work collaboratively with the pulmonary rehab team, including another RT responsible for documentation
  • Follow infection control, safety, and departmental policies
  • Maintain a professional, supportive, and respectful environment for all patients

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an AMA‑approved Respiratory Therapy program
  • Must be licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Maryland State Board of Physicians
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required
  • Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification required or preferred (per department standards)
  • Strong analytical and clinical reasoning skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with intermediate computer proficiency
  • Demonstrated ability to show empathy and remain calm in potentially stressful situations
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, visitors, and healthcare staff
  • Ability to explain policies, relay information accurately, and communicate with courtesy and tact
