Responsible for performing a wide range of complex technical duties utilizing knowledge and skills to ensure consistent quality patient care. Requires proficiency in the areas of invasive and noninvasive cardiology to provide accurate, safe assessment of patients through diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. RCIS, Rad Tech, CVT are all acceptable for this role.

 

Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, MD is hiring for a EKG/Stress Testing Technologist  in the Cardiology Department. 

 

Schedule:

  • 7:30AM - 6:00PM - 4 - 10 days/week. Rotating day off every week
  • Shift: Day shift with weeknight on call rotation
  • Weekend rotation (if any): Weekend on call every 3rd weekend. The weekend consists of Friday at 5:30pm through Monday 7am.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the physician in cardiac catheterization, pulmonary angiograms, intraaortic balloon counterpulsation techniques, pericardiocentesis, and temporary and permanent heart pacemaker insertions by counseling patients regarding operation
    procedures, preparing and operating cardiac equipment, inserting intravenous drip, monitoring and recording intra cardiac pressures, and monitoring and recording patients vital signs.
  • Conducts regular cardiac stress tests, including taking accurate and complete patient histories; familiarity with various types of stress test equipment; properly apply electrodes; insertion of intravenous lines; and responding to emergency situations (cardiac arrest during exercise stress testing).
  • Assists physician by performing non-invasive procedures, e.g. EKGs, stress tests, applying monitors, and recording vital signs.
  • Must be proficient in operating all invasive cardiac equipment and performing all EKG and hemodynamic recordings required during cardiac cath procedures.
  • Work requires the analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems.
  • Work requires the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations.

Qualifications

  • Work requires the level of knowledge typically acquired through completion of two years of occupationally specific education or an Associate’s degree in Biological or Health Sciences or closely related field and two years of previous experience.
    Valid CPR certification (Heartsaver) required.
  • ACLS certification or must acquire certification within 6 months of date of employment.
  • Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist preferred.
  • Radiology Tech Degree or, RCIS Degree or, CVT training.

Required Physical, Mental, and Visual Abilities

  • Work requires occasionally reaching and grasping objects.
  • Work requires occasionally using a keyboard to interact with computer system.
  • Work requires proofreading and/or reviewing documents.

Working Conditions

  • Work is generally performed in an office or clinical environment in which there is only minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous work conditions.
