The Interventional Radiology Tech is responsible for assisting physicians with the performance of invasive radiologic procedures on patients who are extremely ill or injured.

Location: Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is hiring for an Interventional Radiology Technologist.  

Schedule:

  • 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM 
  • 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM 
  • There is an on-call requirement of 2-3 days a week, on average.
  • On-call for 1 day a week as the call shifts rotate.

Responsibilities

  • Counsels patients on the radiographic procedures to be performed.
  • Assists physician in the placement of catheters.
  • Secures patient consent for the performance of various radiographs.
  • Positions patients on equipment. Operates fluoroscope and related equipment in the examination of patients
  • Assists physicians in the performance of invasive radiologic procedures.
  • Monitors patient vital signs during examination. Notifies attending physician of changes.
  • Prepares and organizes equipment necessary for special procedures.
  • Schedules patients for radiologic procedure to be performed.
  • Ensures proper operation of equipment. Reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel.
  • Cleans equipment after use. Forward used equipment to Central Storeroom for sterilization.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and drugs necessary for procedures conducted.
  • May provide guidance to Radiologic Technologists, students, and assistants as required.  

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technologist program. 
  • At least three years as diagnostic technologist.
  • Current Radiologic Technologist License in the State of Maryland.
  • Current registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) required.
  • Current BLS CPR certification.
  • Experience working with vascular, body and neurological cases preferred.
