Under minimal supervision, the EEG Technician performs a variety of standard and complex diagnostic neurological tests to facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of cerebral impairment. Calculates and analyzes standard and special procedure test results. Provides preliminary report for use by physicians. The EEG Tech will perform EEG's on patients of all ages throughout the hospital and the outpatient clinic.
Schedule: Four (4) 10-hour days; rotating shifts & weekends, rotating coverage for on-call weekends. On-call is for emergent requests 12a - 7a on Sat/Sun. Holiday work expected.
Shifts may begin at 6a, 7a, 8a, 11a, and 8pm. Scheduling to be determined based on department's needs.
Records brain electrical activity from predetermined regions of the brain using diagnostic equipment.
Performs specialized tests including Wada tests as well as Video-EEG recordings, PET, or tilt table.
Conducts EEG studies to assist physician analysis including the determination of brain death.
Determines and plans proper procedures for test modality being used.
Obtains data and explains testing procedures to the patient.
Use of analog as well as digital (computerized) diagnostic EEG equipment.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of an approved program in EEG Technology strongly preferred. If an approved program was not completed, a minimum of one year of work experience as an EEG Tech is required.
Registration (R.EEG.T.) preferred.
