    The Medical Assistant (MA) in the ambulatory practice functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team. The MA has duties and responsibilities related to patient care in the ambulatory clinic environment.  The individual displays responsible behaviors, communicates effectively to others and functions as a member of the healthcare team.  The MA functions under the direct supervision and authority of the physician when performing patient care. The MA reports to the clinic manager or lead nurse, who is responsible for the administrative supervision and orientation of the MA to the area’s policies and procedures.  

    We are currently seeking a Medical Assistant for a temporary assignment at the Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL, in an OB/GYN clinic.  

    Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00 pm.  






    The Medical Assistant:

    • Obtains vital signs & assists patients in preparation for examination/ procedure.
    • Records and documents in the medical record.
    • Ensures safe & efficient patient flow.
    • Administers medications and immunizations.
    • Organizes the clinic environment to assure patient safety.  
    • Reads & interprets medical record and physician orders. 
    • Reads & interprets equipment in conjunction with patient information.
    • Displays responsible behaviors, communicates effectively to others and functions at the highest level based on scope of practice.



    High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program, or equivalent education and 1 year of medical office experience required.   


    New graduates welcome;  one (1) year experience preferred. 

    Familiar with medical terminology and documenting in electronic health record.


    The MA must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of patient care. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Effective time management and organizational skills.


    Valid CPR certification required upon hire and recertification required every two years.
