We are currently seeking a Cardiac Sonographer for a full-time contract assignment at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.
Registered Cardiac Sonographer or ARDMS certification. One year related experience required.
Day shift: 8:00a - 4:30p
Responsible for conducting inpatient and outpatient echocardiograms and Doppler flow analysis of the heart and related structures for use by physicians in diagnosing heart disease and conducting heart studies. Principal duties and responsibilities:
1. Performs inpatient and outpatient echocardiograms, Doppler flow analysis, transesophageal echoes, dobutamine echoes, and exercise echoes.
2. Meets with patients and family members to explain procedures and alleviate anxiety and obtain cooperation.
3. Reviews output data to measure heart wall thickness and chamber size . Compares data to standard norms to identify heart abnormalities.
4. Measures blood flow velocities and calculates data such as cardiac physiology and valve areas for cardiac function evaluation.
Work requires the level of knowledge typically acquired through completion of two years of occupationally-specific education or an Associate’s degree in Cardiography, Ultrasound or a closely related field and one to two years of previous experience.
CPR/ BLS Certification required.
