Johns Hopkins Intrastaff is the internal staffing agency for the Johns Hopkins Health System and partner hospitals, providing temporary support to a variety of the Johns Hopkins locations. Administers leave and disability programs for the Johns Hopkins Health System and The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Knowledgeable of all leave laws and regulations including the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendment Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act. Serves as primary resource person for policy and procedure interpretations and provides advice and guidance to department and staff regarding leave benefits. Works closely with Director to design, implement and administer leave benefit programs for represented and non-represented employees.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development of the annual Corporate Benefits Budget and Department Budget as directed by Senior Director, Benefits. Monitors corporate benefits budget monthly.
  • Organizes and prioritizes work to meet responsibilities. Make decisions regarding work processes based upon established guidelines. Gathers, correlates and interprets data and makes recommendations to Director.

Qualifications

  • Requires two to three years of employee benefits experience.
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration and/or related benefit plan administration.
  • Requires knowledge of employee benefits policies and procedures, regulatory legislation such as the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), American Disabilities Act, Internal Revenue Regulations and ERISA, understanding of benefit plans and provisions.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal skills necessary to develop and explain benefits information to all levels of Hospital employees; must be able to communicate with external representatives (legal, third party administrators, insurance companies) regarding all types of benefit issues; must have good oral and written communication skills. Work requires high level of analytical ability necessary to compile and interpret a variety of benefits data including claims information, benefits cost information and the like. Demonstrate ability with Human Resources Management Information Systems and computer applications in order to generate reports and resolve complex mathematical/financial/statistical problems.
  • Requires completion or working towards Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or American Compensation Association (ACA) designation is preferred.
